Brief Biography
Kristina Paustian (lives in Berlin) began her career in film as a cinematographer and editor. She studied Art and Media at the Berlin University of the Arts. Her films are characterized by a strong visual signature. She examines anthropological and socio-political topics in her works.
In 2015 Kristina released her first feature-length documentary SWIMMERS (2015), which premiered at Visions du Reel and was awarded with the ARTE Documentary Prize. In 2017 Kristina was part of the Berlinale Talents program.
For the development of her debut feature film Velimir's Prophecy, she received the Elsa Neumann scholarship and the Robert Bosch grant. Her film essay Timekeeper is funded by the Berlin Senate Department for Culture and Europe. She is co-founder of the Media Art Association (mkv) for the promotion of contemporary art with new media, dedicated to the development of experimental narrative and exhibition formats.
Kristina Paustian's films and video art works were exhibited at Les Rencontres Internationales, Arsenal Berlin, Maxxi Museo Rome, ArtDocFest, Rome Independent Film Restival, Torino International Film Festival, European Media Festival Osnabrück, Odessa Biennale, Tashkent Biennale and others.
